Your most comprehensive appointment in your MINI Maintenance Schedule will be Inspection 2, also know as the Major Service. Inspection 2 is a thorough "check-up" for your mini, like an annual physical for a person, that makes sure that the elements of your Mini Cooper are all in line and optimized for perfect performance.
MINI Maintenance: Inspection 2 Checklist
MINI Inspection 2 includes all of the elements of MINI Inspection 1 as well as the MINI Oil Change. In addition to these items, you'll also need to do the following:
- Change the air filter,
- Change the engine coolant,* and
- Flush brake fluid.*
Brake fluid will need to be flushed every 2 years, regardless of mileage. Coolant will need to be change every 4 years, regardless of mileage.
MINI Maintenance: Inspection 2 at Higher Mileage
As you climb in mileage, additional service tasks will be added into your MINI Inspection 2:- At 60,000 miles for the Cooper S, you'll need to change the serpentine belt. For other models, you'll need to do this at 100,000 miles.
- At 100,000 miles, you'll need to replace the oxygen sensor.
- At 100,000 miles, you'll need to replace the spark plugs.
