i’ve brought my 2008 mini cooper to eurosport of wayzata in january 2016 for three years thru a lady name kelsey with great experience. until their business was moved to plymouth from wayzata last year. i began to lose my trust doing business with new person name mike anymore.
why? in july 2018, my 2008 mini cooper’s engine noise was noticed by the technician while pulling the vehicle into the shop. the cost required labor to remove the valve cover and timing cover to inspect further etc... they’ve fixed my car about $2,700 total to cover everything after i’ve double check with him to make sure about the problem to cause the oil consumption issue on my car. because i have asked of him to correct these oil consumption issue at same time to save the labor cost if adding parts cost me extra $ which is okay with me.
i drove it for three months to see how the oil consumption issue has been resolved yet or not. it didn’t improve at all but i began to notice there were little oil leaking around the spark plugs. i gave it a chance for another three month in january 2019 under the 24 month/24,000 mile warranty in peace of mind. i’ve started to notice more oil leaking around the spark plugs and oil consumption issue still remained the same.
i’ve taken my car to the shop and talked with mike about these issue under the warranty last janurary 2019. he said it is normal consumption to use 1 quart every 700 miles. why didn’t he give me a head up to warn me in first place last 6 months ago (july 2018). he told me that oil leak coming from the oil filter housing that would charge me another $1025.70 for 6 hour labor is expensive more than gasket part itself is cheaper.
i’ve asked him why he had not done with replacing gasket of oil filter housing in first place last july 2018 at same time to work on my engine issue in order to save the labor cost cheaper. he said gasket didn’t leak at that time and didn’t bother to replace it at all. top of my head that he and his technician both should know better replacing the old gasket (cheap part) with new one is much cheap insurance to do at same time labor (expensive) is better than never replace it at all. he told me to keep my eyes on oil level. he won’t budge that he didn’t take responsible for not correcting the issue of oil consumption issue and oil leaking that i asked of him in first place last july, 2018.
last march 2019, i had another new issues on braking system, front wheel bearing, front struts to cost me around another $2,300. i did ask him to double check with diagnosis on my car about any issue or problem later i may overlook. i told him that i don't want to be trapped in the money pit and may consider giving up my old 2008 to buy new car. i did ask him about how to be cautious of oil leaking is avoiding any risk after my car's repairing. he said all i need to keep my eyes on oil level then i will be fine. i was naive to trust him third time again as i went ahead to cough up $ with another $2,300 repairing.
guess what. next three weeks later, my 2008 mini cooper s has showed up a new hot temperature warning icon on march 21st, 2019. i lost over $5,000 total to invest on my mini coopers in less than a year at the Eurosport of Plymouth because he and his techanician could not be able to anticipate the problem in the future by ignoring replacing gasket of oil filter housing simply by bad call and clueless about mini cooper's issue.
i ended up to buy a new hyundai santa fe xl limited next few days right after mini cooper s had issue after i promised my wife this was my last straw to lose my trust in Eurosport of Plymouth three time. if you care about their friendly service and simple changing oils then it is ok for you. if you care about real expert on diagnosis to pin down the culprit on engine what cause problem and issue and ABLE to anticipate with experience then Eurosport of Plymouth is not recommended for you. their 24 month/24,000 mile warranty is not worth for my peace of mind at all but my beloved 2008 mini cooper become a brick to park on my driveway.
