Nick Vanderwende, owner and operator, is a highly qualified German automobile repair specialist. Prior to becoming the owner of German Auto Specialists in 2017, Nick spent 15 years developing his skills as a top tier German automobile technician. He began working on German vehicles in 2004 after graduating from ATC (Automotive Training Center) with a degree in high-performance engines and motorsports. His technical experience includes engine rebuilds, advanced diagnostics, manual transmission rebuilds, electrical diagnostics and repairs, track prep and maintenance, racecar suspension setups, and restoration work.

Absolutely outstanding service. I did a PPI with the team at German Auto Specialists and have been blown away. They took several detailed documented photos, ran through a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic checklist, and reviewed the results with me in 24 hours (Alex took a call over the weekend for me as I was in a rush)! Not only that, they also continued to spend their time and engagement with me post PPI, as I had further questions after the PPI. It’s very rare to find honest and thoughtful mechanics who truly care about their customers and know their stuff. I know I will be using them as my trusted mechanic, even though I live in NYC. That’s how good they are.
Man oh man.. where can I start? Originally from Canada, we came to Philadelphia for a Holy Convocation and unfortunately my car broke down. I knew something needed to get fixed expeditiously and found German Auto Specialists. I honestly thought we were going to get taken advantage of as it was my pregnant wife, son and me. They identified the problem in minutes and the car got fixed in 1 or 2 days. Not only did they fix my car, but they even book a hotel room for us! I drove the car for months before making this review and I must say... my vehicle drives likes the issue was not there. It is very few mechanics nowadays that do what needs be done and I am glad we came across German Auto Specialists. Nick and his team did an excellent job on figuring out what was wrong with my 15 WRX. He's very knowledgeable and the nicest most honest guy I ever met. This team can figure out anything and get to the root of the problem your having with your vehicle. Thank you guys for all your help. I'll definitely come back if I have another issue.
Nick and his team consistently come in on or below budget and never charge you for stuff you don’t need… there is a reason there lot is consistently full and busy!
Fabulous customer service, which I am big on. Kept me informed while waiting. Offers coffee and snacks while waiting. Pet friendly, and never had to bring my vehicle back for repairs. Cost is extremely fair, too fair. They love their customers.

Extremely efficient. Alex kept me in the loop about every single service item taking place on the car. He also answered any questions and alleviated any concerns that I had. German Auto Specialists truly cares about taking care of their customers and their cars.
Highly recommend this shop! Alex and everyone there was super helpful. My car had some annoying difficulties and everyone there was super understanding and they even helped me work with a dealer to resolve an issue. They gave a fair estimate prior to the work and stood by it. I’ll be back there from now on. Highly recommend!
